An ancient name for Japan was Akitsu-Chimu or dragonfly isle. Dragonflies symbolize good luck and were believed to be the spirit of the rice plant. Here they adorn a paper lantern, an integral part of Japanese culture. The 500-year-old Feast of Lanterns, or Obon, ends with floating illuminated lanterns down rivers. Finish: Solid brass, electro-plated with non-tarnishing silver, giclee print, ear wires are hypo-allergenic.
